Résumé

Introduction: Skin cancers are malignant tumors that develop at the expense of one of the constituents of the skin. They can be of epidermis, dermal, hypodermic or adnexal origin. They are a major problem in the world. The incidence of skin cancers has seen the greatest increase in recent decades. The general objective of our work was to learn about the epidemio-clinical factors and therapeutic modalities of skin cancers in the Dermatology Department of the Treichville University Hospital.

Materials and methods: This was a retrospective descriptive study, from January 2013 to December 2023, i.e. a period of 10 years, on skin cancers in the dermatology department of the Treichville University Hospital. All patients with histologically confirmed skin cancer with a complete medical record, and hospitalized  were included in our study.

Results: Sixty-three patients were hospitalized for skin cancer, with a maximum of 10 cases in 2010 during our study. Our patients had an average age of 46 years. In our study, we found a male predominance with 57 % of patients and the sex ratio was 0.75. The common reason for consultation was the ulcerative budding tumor. Squamous cell carcinoma was the most common histological type of skin cancer in 33% of cases.

Conclusion: Skin cancers are an important reason for hospitalization. Our study has made it possible to identify the most common cancers, however it is essential to conduct other research on a larger scale in order to better understand these epidemiological and histological aspects.
